Hotel Gotham (NYC)

A high-quality art print of a vintage 1920s luggage label from the Hotel Gotham, which opened in 1905 at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street in Midtown Manhattan.

Designed by the architectural firm Hiss & Weekes, the building reflected early 20th-century neoclassical styling and catered to an upscale clientele. Its location placed it near Central Park, high-end shopping, and cultural landmarks.

At the time of its opening, the hotel was denied a liquor license due to its proximity to the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. This restriction contributed to early financial struggles, and the property changed ownership within a few years. Today, the building is home to The Peninsula New York.
